HAGERSVILLE, Ontario — A strong run would come to an early end for Rick Spencer-Walt on Saturday night at Jukasa Motor Speedway, when he was forced to pit with mechanical issues.
Confident from testing a couple weeks ago, Spencer-Walt posted a lap of 17.377 seconds to qualify eighth for the Ontario Outlaw Super Late Model 75 lap feature. He would quickly make his way up into the top-five, solidly running with the front runners.
Unfortunately, a power steering hose would let go, forcing Spencer-Walt into the pits. The team tried to make the necessary repairs to get Spencer-Walt back on-track, but was unable to do so. He would be credited with a 17th-place finish.
Spencer-Walt will be back in action on Saturday, September 7 for the next night of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Division I competition at Sunset Speedway. To date, with 16 features now in the books for the 2019 campaign, Spencer-Walt has scored five wins, six runner-ups, a pair of thirds, a pair of fourths, and a seventh. As a result, he currently leads the track division standings.
He is also currently leading the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Division I Provincial Standings, and is 13th in the national standings (despite some United States competitors having ran twice the amount of features). Notably, he is the highest ranked Canadian in the standings.
The Eldon Wallis owned team is proud to receive sponsorship this season from Simcoe Sewer and Water, Gohydrovac.ca, Jim Wilson Chevrolet, Auto Trim Design, Speedy Auto Glass Orillia, Byer’s Equipment Motorsports, Orser Technical Services, Heidi’s RV Superstore, GreenSteelRoof.ca, HOTC, and EPIC Racewear.
