INNISFIL, Ontario — It wasn’t all smiles for SKLD Motorsports on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway, with their three bone stock rookies experiencing mixed fortunes.
The first heat would see Austyn Jennett score a fourth-place finish, with Andrew Shilling and Karlie Wilman following him across the finish line. The same feat would then repeated in the second qualifier later on that evening.
Come time for the feature, Shilling and Wilman led the field to the green flag, with Jennett starting a little further back in fifth.
Shilling would lead the opening laps, though ultimately faded back over the course of the feature to 10th. He was able to avoid an incident by his teammate, and make a couple late-race passes, to cross the finish line in seventh.
Wilman battled three-wide in the top-five through the opening laps, though ultimately faded back to outside of the top-10 before the halfway mark. She then experienced a tire issue, forcing her down pit road during the race’s lone caution. Restarting from the tail of the field, she made a couple passes in the late stages to finish eighth.
Jennett started off the feature solidly, battling side-by-side with Cheyenne Charles for sixth through the middle portion of the event. However on Lap 13, he would lose his right front tire, making contact with the outside turn three wall. Fortunately, he was uninjured in the incident and credited with a 11th-place finish.
SKLD Motorsports’ bone stocks will continue their season at Sunset Speedway on Saturday, August 24.
