Thus far this year at Sunset Speedway, Samantha Shaw has not finished off the podium in any of the features that she has ran. That continued on Saturday night, as she won the G.D. Coates Used Car Superstore Mini Stock 25-lap main event.
The feature would go cleanly for everybody, as there was six cautions throughout, including three in the final two laps. As a result, officials would call the race early, with only 23 of the 25 laps being completed.
Samantha Shaw worked her way forward throughout the event, using a mid-race restart to snag the lead away from Dylan Holmes. She then held off her fellow front runner in the four restarts that followed, using the outside lane to her advantage. The victory for the No. 81 Mustang, as previously noted, is her sixth straight podium finish this season.
Dylan Holmes finished second for his sixth top-five, followed by Melissa Bullen, Curtis Stewart, and Chandler Bos. Bob Phinnemore finished sixth for his sixth top-10, followed by Jason D’Antimo, Eric Rainey, Amanda Shave, and Morgan Robson. The top-10 for Robson is his first of 2019 despite going around for a pair of spins on Saturday night.
Rob Welles finished 11th despite a mid-race spin, ahead of Connor Maltese, Allan Lankin, Jeff Richard, Peter Wakeling, and Tyler Seaboyer.
Heat wins went to Seaboyer (x2), Holmes, and Bullen.
