INNISFIL, Ontario — For the second week in a row, Rick Spencer-Walt visited victory lane at Sunset Speedway.
With a lap of 14.89 seconds, Spencer-Walt got the pole, grabbing the advantage on the drop of the green flag, cruising away from the field with ease over the course of the 35 laps en route to his second feature victory of the 2019 campaign. He also won the first feature last weekend, too.
In the second feature, he would make his way up to fifth by the third lap. However, his strong charge early would come to a halt when contact from behind sent him around. The throttle cable would fall off in the process, but the Spencer-Walt Motorsports team was able to make the necessary repairs under caution.
Restarting from the tail of the field, he would quickly make his way forward, running 11th as of Lap 11. Following a mid-race restart, he continued to move forward, breaking into the top-10 on Lap 17. He would then break into the top-five with a pass on Paul Maltese on Lap 29, getting by Danny Benedict on the final lap to cross the finish line with a fourth-place finish.
To date, with eight features now in the books for the 2019 campaign, Spencer-Walt has scored two wins, four runner-ups, a fourth, and a seventh. As a result, he currently leads the track division standings. He is also currently leading the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Division I Provincial Standings, and sits 39th in the national standings (despite some United States competitors having ran twice the amount of features), just 20 points out of the top-30.
Spencer-Walt will be back in action on Saturday, July 13 for the next night of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Division I competition at Sunset Speedway.
