INNISFIL, Ontario — Running inside the top-five all afternoon long at Sunset Speedway, Ron Quesnelle picked up a pair of top-five finishes on Sunday.
Setting a lap of 15.078 seconds in qualifying, Ron Quesnelle would set himself up to start 10th for the first 35-lap feature on Sunday. He would avoid an incident in the early stages on Lap 2 ahead of him, along with making a couple passes to move up into sixth by Lap 5.
He would then look to break into the top-five on Lap 9, getting alongside Billy Zardo, taking the spot four laps later. He’d battle hard through the second half of the feature, ultimately crossing the finish line with a fifth-place finish.
Starting third in the second feature, he’d drop back to fourth on the initial drop of the green flag, moving back up into third on Lap 5. He’d continue to move forward, making his move up into the runner-up spot with 12 laps complete.
The middle portion of the feature saw a pair of cautions with Quesnelle battling for positions on the restarts, dropping back to fourth. He would get one spot back though, getting alongside and passing Travis Hallyburton for third with six laps to go. He’d work at trying to catch the leaders, but was unable to do so, crossing the finish line with a third-place finish.
With five top-10’s on the season in six features, including a season-best third, Quesnelle currently sits seventh in the track standings. He is notably only six points out of the top-five.
