Erik Dalla Riva Breaks Through for First Sunset Speedway Triumph

It did not take long for Erik Dalla Riva to get up to speed at Sunset Speedway, as he scored the victory in the G.D. Coates Used Car Superstore Mini Stock feature on Sunday afternoon.

Tyler Seaboyer won the first heat ahead of Melissa Bullen, Connor Maltese, Bob Phinnemore, Doug Wilman, Eric Rainey, Peter Wakeling, Rob Welles, and Erik Dalla Riva.

Samantha Shaw won the second heat ahead of Dylan Holmes, Will Gibbons, Chandler Bos, Curtis Stewart, Jason D’Antimo, Amanda Shave, Taylor Thring, and C.K. Thompson.

The third heat featured a quick caution at Lap 1 for Welles spinning in turn two. Erik Dalla Riva picked up the win ahead of Seaboyer, Phinnemore, Bullen, Wilman, Maltese, Rainey, Wakeling, and Welles.

Will Gibbons won the fourth heat ahead of Shaw, Holmes, Bos, Shave, D’Antimo, Thompson, Stewart, and Thring.

Come feature time, Connor Maltese grabbed the early advantage off the pole as Bob Phinnemore, Erik Dalla Riva, and Jason D’Antimo battled three-wide for second. However, the caution came out for Wakeling spinning in turn two.

With just one lap complete, Maltese led Phinnemore, Dalla Riva, D’Antimo, Dylan Holmes, Chandler Bos, Samantha Shaw, Will Gibbons, Tyler Seaboyer, Melissa Bullen, Amanda Shave, Doug Wilman, Curtis Stewart, Eric Rainey, C.K. Thompson, Rob Welles, Peter Wakeling, and Taylor Thring.

Phinnemore would grab the advantage on the restart, with Dalla Riva getting alongside Maltese for second. Dalla Riva got the spot on Lap 3, before snatching the lead a lap later. Holmes moved into second, with Shaw up to third ahead of Gibbons and Phinnemore. Behind them, Bos and Bullen battled for sixth.

With nine laps on the board, Dalla Riva led ahead of Holmes, Shaw, Gibbons, and Seaboyer. Bullen ran sixth ahead of Phinnemore, Bos, Shave, D’Antimo and Stewart, with Thompson and Wilman side-by-side for 12th; Thompson got the spot on Lap 14 ahead of Wilman, with Wakeling, Thring and Maltese rounding out the field.

Further up the field, Seaboyer got alongside Gibbons for fourth on Lap 15, completing the pass a lap later. Bullen continued to run sixth ahead of Phinnemore, Bos, Shave, D’Antimo, Stewart, Wilman and Thompson, with Wakeling and Thring side-by-side for 14th.

With the laps ticking away, Seaboyer would keep pushing harder as he tried to catch Shaw for third. However, it wouldn’t work in his favor, as he would slip sideways. He’d catch it up, but not before being passed by Gibbons for the fourth position.

Erik Dalla Riva scored the victory ahead of Dylan Holmes, Samantha Shaw, Will Gibbons, and Tyler Seaboyer. Melissa Bullen finished sixth, followed by Bob Phinnemore, Chandler Bos, Amanda Shave, and Jason D’Antimo. Curtis Stewart finished 11th, followed  by Doug Wilman, C.K. Thompson, Taylor Thring, Peter Wakeling, Connor Maltese, Eric Rainey, and Rob Welles.
