Travis Hallyburton Returns to Victory Lane at Sunset Speedway

Seizing the opportunity in front of him, Travis Hallyburton was able to score the victory in the first Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Park Late Model feature on Saturday night.

Following qualifying, Rick Spencer-Walt started on pole ahead of Taylor Holdaway, Chris Morrow, A.J. Emms, Travis Hallyburton, Kendra Adams, Ron Quesnelle, Dwayne Baker, Billy Zardo, Paul Maltese, Al Inglis, Daniel Montanari, Ernie Fumerton, Mike Wilkinson, Chris McIssac, Stefan Semeraro, Thayne Hallyburton, Jeff Richards, and Ashley Muttart.

Spencer-Walt grabbed the initial advantage, with Holdaway and Morrow battling for second. The caution would come out on Lap 3, though, as Richards and Sikes went around. With 33 laps to go, Spencer-Walt led Holdaway, Morrow, Emms, Travis Hallyburton, Adams, Quesnelle, Baker, Maltese, Zardo, Inglis, Fumerton, Montanari, Wilkinson, and Semeraro.

Spencer-Walt would get a good restart ahead of the field, with Emms and Holdaway battling for second. Morrow then took the pair of them three-wide on Lap 5, which would shuffle the whole field up. Ultimately, following contact through the field, Quesnelle would go around on the frontstretch on Lap 8. As drivers tried to avoid the No. 57, there’d be significant contact between Sikes and Thayne Hallyburton.

With the field shuffle with 28 laps to go, Spencer-Walt led Morrow, Emms, Holdaway, Travis Hallyburton, Baker, Maltese, Zardo, Inglis, Montanari, Wilkinson, Fumerton, McIssac and Muttart.

Spencer-Walt was able to get another good restart, though unable to get away with Morrow all over his back bumper. Behind them, Emms ran third ahead of Travis Hallyburton with 10 laps on the board. Hallyburton then made his way into third four laps later, with Baker getting alongside Emms for fourth. Baker would complete the pass a lap later.

Unfortunately, Adams would make her way down pit road on Lap 17 with an issue. The caution then flew a lap later for Montanari spinning in turn four. At the halfway mark, Spencer-Walt led Morrow, Hallyburton, Baker, Emms, Maltese, Holdaway, Zardo, Fumerton and Quesnelle.

The restart would see contact off of turn two between Spencer-Walt and Morrow, with Spencer-Walt getting real sideways down the backstretch. This would allow Morrow to get by for the lead, with Travis Hallyburton as Spencer-Walt was now alongside Emms for third. Spencer-Walt would clear him for the spot on Lap 19.

Hallyburton would get alongside Morrow for the lead for the lead on Lap 20, but the caution would fly for Montanari going around again. With 16 laps to go, Morrow led Hallyburton, Spencer-Walt, Baker, Emms, Maltese, Quesnelle, Zardo, Holdaway, Wilkinson, Fumerton, Semeraro, Sikes, and McIssac.

The restart would see Morrow get the initial jump with the lead, but Hallyburton would perfect the crossover to get underneath for him for the lead, taking the top spot on Lap 23 , with Baker and Spencer-Walt in toe.

Spencer-Walt got back up to third, followed by passing Morrow with 10 laps to go move into second. Baker would look to take advantage, getting alongside Morrow for third. He was unable to complete the pass, though, falling back in line with Maltese rounding out the top-five.

Travis Hallyburton led the rest of the way en route to the victory ahead of Rick Spencer-Walt, Chris Morrow, Dwayne Baker, and Paul Maltese. Ron Quesnelle finished sixth, followed by A.J. Emms, Billy Zardo, Taylor Holdaway, and Stefan Semeraro. Mike Wilkinson finished 11th, followed by Ernie Fumerton, Daniel Montanari, Robbie Sikes, and Chris McIssac.
