Bone Stocks

WHERE TO WATCH: Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8

Each week, Short Track Musings will be releasing a guide of where to catch some short track asphalt racing action across Ontario.

FRIDAY, JUNE 7

Returning to their regular scheduled night, Delaware Speedway will see their Super Stocks joined by the trucks, V8 Thunder Cars, and Bone Stocks. Currently, Trevor Collver leads Andrew Ferreira by two points in the super stock standings following opening night on May 17.

SATURDAY, JUNE 8

Flamboro Speedway should have a full house with the APC Auto Parts United Late Models highlighting the night, as Jordan Sims looks to go back-to-back following a dominating victory in the season opener at Sunset Speedway. Look for Shae Gemmel to also run up front after winning the first round of the Grisdale Triple Crown on May 26.

The Pro Late Models will be joined by the track’s own Klotz Auto Repair & Engine Machine Shop Mini Stocks and McClurkin Properties Cambridge Pure Stocks. Two weeks ago, it was Erik Dalla Riva and Karl Sault snagging feature victories.

Full Throttle Motor Speedway’s biggest event of the season will take place with the Braveheart 100. The season opener for the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series will see series regulars go head-to-head with NASCAR veterans Ken Schrader, Kenny Wallace, and Norm Benning, and Canada’s Ironman Gary Elliott.

It’ll be a busy night with the Kid Stocks, Thunder Trucks, Mini Trucks, Junior Cup, Fun Stocks, All Muscle Sportsman, and Crazy Trains also in action. To date, Brian Wilson Jr. leads the kid stock division with five victories, but Jeremy Curtis is close behind with four to his credit.

Grand Bend Speedway will be running their Jr. B Sprints, Jr. A Sprints, 9hp Mods, Jr Trucks, and Pro Trucks on Saturday night. Currently, Austin MacLennan and Logan Chapman are tied for the points lead in the Jr. B Sprints.

Peterborough Speedway will be raising awareness for autism, while hosting allowing kids to ride in the racecars during intermission as they host the season opener for the Ontario Modified Racing Series. Also on tap for Saturday night is the Bone Stocks, Mini Stocks, Super Stocks, and Late Models.

As they look to put last week’s rain-out behind them, Sunset Speedway will hope to see lots of smiles on fan’s faces with their first FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT of the 2019 campaign. On top of the autograph session, there will be lots of action on-track with the Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Park Late Models, St. Onge Recreation Super Stocks, G.D. Coates Used Car Superstore Mini Stocks, Signs of Innovation Bone Stocks, and Outlaw Midgets.

Recall, the late models haven’t ran a feature since May 11 when Dwayne Baker make a dramatic last lap pass on both Rick Spencer-Walt and Nick Goetz to score the victory. It will mark the second appearance of 2019 for the Outlaw Midgets after Nigel Buttivant scored his first career series victory in their season opener. His teammate Jessica James won the series’ second race at Full Throttle Motor Speedway.
