After seeing their event cut short earlier this month, the Knightworks Design, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd OSCAAR Hot Rod are ready to get to Jukasa Motor Speedway for their feature event presented by Hanover Holidays.
It is worth noting that with the event at Sunset Speedway cut short, the bonus money put up by Matteo’s Pizza and Café for Spring Velocity will carry over to this weekend.
This Saturday’s event will mark the second time the Hot Rods have raced at Jukasa Motor Speedway, following their inaugural appearance last season. Tyler Hawn dominated en route to the victory ahead of Billy Alderson Jr. and Steve Mayhew.
Hawn will be looking to go back-to-back after kicking off his season with a heat victory at Sunset Speedway on May 18. He enters this weekend as the all-time series leader in race wins, hoping to get on the podium after ending last season in victory lane at Flamboro Speedway.
Nick Clarke will hope to repeat his past success in the series, hopeful of taking the team’s new car to victory lane. Unfortunately, Jukasa Motor Speedway did not treat him well last year with mechanical issues plaguing the team throughout the day.
Lance Foster hopes to have the same speed that allowed him to challenge for a win in his OSCAAR debut at Sunset Speedway in 2017.
Steve Book heads into this weekend with a smile on his face following a successful campaign in 2018 that allowed him to place fifth in the year-end standings. He also showed speed in his inaugural appearance at Jukasa, posting a fifth-place finish last season.
Jeremy Broom has gotten better with each OSCAAR appearance, and will hope to build upon his fourth-place finish in last year’s season finale at Flamboro Speedway. He finished sixth in his first trip to Jukasa last year.
Steve Mayhew will enter this weekend with momentum on his side, following five consecutive top-10 finishes. He finished a career-best third in his first trip to Jukasa last year.
Brad Martin ended his season on a high last year, scoring a third-place finish at the Velocity 250 at Sunset Speedway. He has yet to run Jukasa Motor Speedway with the OSCAAR Hot Rods.
Rodney Rutherford made his OSCAAR debut at Flamboro Speedway’s Frostoberfest, scoring a fifth-place finish last year. Now with the car looking stunning, he hopes to be part of the conversation to win this year.
While the conversation for the win will be rapid, there will also be a lot of focus on the Ohsweken Speedway Rookie of the Year battle with several new faces joining the ranks.
Dalen Martin debuted his mustang in style at Sunset Speedway, picking up a qualifying race victory for the rain cut the show short. He stated pre-season that he hoped to come out swinging this year against “the most badass looking cars in the province.”
Bradley Holt got his feet wet in Sunset Speedway’s Super Stock division, and looked solid in his first OSCAAR appearance at Sunset Speedway with a fifth-place finish in his second qualifying heat.
Leroy Robinson caught a bunch of headlines through the pre-season discussion with photos of his build across the internet as he brought out a car previously raced by his father. His debut at Sunset Speedway did not go as planned, with contact during the first qualifying heat. He will hope to have a clean day, while running up front at Jukasa this weekend.
Fellow rookie Dan Rothwell also caught a piece of the carnage at Sunset Speedway as well, unfortunately writing off the car his team spent all off-season preparing. Fortunately, he has bought a brand new car and will be ready to go for this weekend at Jukasa Motor Speedway.
Sean Walker hopes to turn his late model success at Peterborough Speedway into a couple victories with the OSCAAR Hot Rod Series. meanwhile, Greg Belyea hopes to turn his dirt success into pavement checkered flags with his brand new Mercury Cougar.
They will be joined by fellow rookies Robert Robinson and Dale Waite, among others.
Beyond the drivers mentioned here, there is the possibility to see other faces make an appearance this weekend at Sunset Speedway. The class is expected to grow through the summer, with several drivers working at finalizing their builds to debut as soon as possible.
