INNISFIL, Ontario — Chris LeBarron started off his rookie campaign at Sunset Speedway in style by winning one of his qualifying races.
LeBarron’s night did not start off well, as he was black flagged during the first heat for a fuel leak. He rebounded in style for the second qualifier, taking the lead right from the start, cruising away from the field en route to the victory.
Starting 11th for the 25-lap feature, he began to move forward immediately, breaking into the top-10 and running seventh as of Lap 4. He continued to move forward, getting alongside Terry Woodley for sixth eight laps later. He would successful move into sixth on Lap 16, followed by passing Bob Phinnemore to break into the top-five with seven laps to go.
He kept the solid run going right until the checkered flag, crossing the finish line with a fifth-place finish.
LeBarron will be back at Sunset Speedway on Sunday, May 19 for the second night of competition this season with the Spring Velocity.
