It may have taken Dan Archibald all year long to win a St. Onge Recreation feature at Sunset Speedway, but he won one of the biggest, taking the 50-lapper to end of the 2018 season.
Justin Holmes won the first heat ahead of Stefan Semeraro, Gerrit Tiemersma, Nick Tooley, Dan Archibald, Ken Grubb, Dan Robb, Dustyn Mombourquette, and Larry Mackenzie, while Ethan Constable ran into issues on Lap 4.
Coltin Everingham won the second heat ahead of Ryan Semple, Tom Walters, Brandon Passer, Herb Walters, Frank Davey, Johnny Morrison, Robbie Sikes, and Joe Daley.
Dustyn Mombourquette won the third heat ahead of Archibald, Semeraro, Constable, Tiemersma, Tooley, Holmes, and Grubb.

Come feature time, Nick Tooley started pole ahead of Dustyn Mombourquette, Frank Davey, Dan Archibald, Ryan Semple, Gerrit Tiemersma, Tom Walters, Herb Walters, Coltin Everingham, Justin Holmes, Stefan Semeraro, Brandon Passer, Johnny Morrison, Robbie Sikes, Ethan Constable, Dan Robb, Ken Grubb, Joe Daley, and Larry Mackenzie.
Mombourquette grabbed the early advantage ahead of Tooley, Archibald and Semple. Archibald would get by Tooley easily, getting alongside Mombourquette for the top spot on Lap 2 when the caution would come out. A stack up beginning mid-field would cause both Holmes and Constable to go around in turns three and four, causing heavy front end damage to Constable’s car. This would shuffle the deck big time, with a couple front runners sent to the tail as involved cars. So with 48 laps to go, Mombourquette led Archibald, Tooley, Semple, Davey, Tiemersma, Tom Walters, Herb Walters, Everingham, Morrison, Grubb, Mackenzie, Daley, Passer, Semeraro, Robb, Sikes, and Holmes.
The restart saw Archibald take the lead ahead of Mombourquette and Semple, with Davey up to fourth ahead of Tom Walters as Herb Walters battled Tiemersma for sixth. Tiemersma would get tagged from behind during the battle, allowing Herb to take the spot with Everingham following him through a lap later. Constable would head into the pits as of Lap 7, with Semple alongside Mombourquette for second ahead of Davey.
With nine laps on the board, Archibald continued to lead with Semple and Mombourquette side-by-side for second ahead of Davey. Semple got the spot a lap later, bringing Davey through with him as Herb and Tom Walters battled for fifth ahead of Everingham, Grubb, Passer, Tiemersma, Semeraro. Constable would return on Lap 13, with the caution flying a lap later for Tom Walters spinning in turn two, following contact with Herb Walters. With 37 laps to go, Archibald led Semple, Davey, Mombourquette, Everingham, Grubb, Passer, Tiemersma, Semeraro, Robb, Holmes, Morrison, Mackenzie, Daley, Tom Walters, Tooley, Sikes, and Herb Walters.
Archibald got a good restart to keep the lead ahead of Semple, Mombourquette and Grubb as Davey and Everingham battled for fifth ahead of Passer. Passer would take them three-wide the following lap, which allowed Davey to get the spot as Everingham and Passer remained side-by-side. Everingham would clear him two laps later, taking the sixth spot. Passer now ran seventh ahead of Holmes and Tiemersma as Semeraro and Morrison battled for 10th. Semeraro got the spot two laps later ahead of Morrison, with Tom Walters, Herb Walters, and Robb rounding out the field. Herb continued to make up ground after his spin, passing Tom for 12th at the halfway mark of the feature.
With the laps counting down, there were battles throughout the field, with Davey getting alongside Grubb for fourth at Lap 27, as Passer and Holmes battled for seventh behind Everingham. Grubb got the spot, with Everingham following him through for fifth. Everingham continued his charge forward, making the move by Grubb on Lap 31 to take fourth. Davey would follow through to take fifth ahead of Passer, and Holmes, as Grubb fell back to eighth ahead of Semeraro, Tiemersma, and Herb Walters with Robb and Morrison side-by-side for 12th. Holmes would challenge Passer for sixth, but would fall short on his attempt with 14 laps to go.
With 10 laps to go, Archibald led the field ahead of Semple, Mombourquette, Everingham, Davey, Passer, Holmes, Grubb, Semeraro, Tiemersma, Herb Walters, Robb, and Morrison. Holmes would make his way forward, moving up to fifth with five laps to go as Davey and Passer battled for sixth. Passer would get the spot at Lap 47 with most of the field strung out single-file.
