Danny Benedict Scores 60-Lap Late Model Feature Victory at Sunset

The wins continue to add up for Danny Benedict as he won the 60-lap Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Park Late Model feature on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.

Paul Geniole Jr. won the first heat ahead of Gord Shepherd, Nick Goetz, Paul Maltese, Danny Benedict, and Mike Wilkinson.

Nic Montanari won the second heat ahead of Ernie Fumerton, Ron Quesnelle, Billy Zardo, Kendra Adams, and Chris McIssac.

Danny Benedict edged out Shepherd by a bumper to win heat three with Goetz in third, followed by Geniole, Wilkinson, and Maltese.

Billy Zardo won the fourth heat ahead of Quesnelle, Fumerton, Adams, Montanari, and McIssac.

Come feature time, Billy Zardo led the field to green ahead of Ron Quesnelle, Ernie Fumerton, Paul Geniole Jr., Nic Montanari, Nick Goetz, Danny Benedict, Kendra Adams, Paul Maltese, Mike Wilkinson, Chris McIssac, and Gord Shepherd.

Zardo would grab the early advantage ahead of Quesnelle and Geniole, with Benedict alongside Fumerton for fourth. Benedict got the spot on Lap 3, with Goetz looking to follow him through. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be as instead, Goetz blew the motor on the fourth lap.

The restart saw Zardo retain the lead, with Geniole alongside Quesnelle for second ahead of Benedict, Fumerton, and Montanari. Geniole got the spot on Lap 7, with Benedict following him. Fumerton ran fifth ahead of Montanari, with Adams alongside Wilkinson for seventh ahead of Shepherd, Maltese, and McIssac.

Shepherd would take Adams and Wilkinson three-wide on Lap 11, passing them both to take over the seventh spot. Shepherd would continue to move forward, passing Montanari for sixth on Lap 13, as Adams and Wilkinson continued to battle, now for eighth, ahead of Maltese and McIssac.

With 16 laps on the board, Zardo continued to lead while Benedict gave Geniole a bump, looking for a way by for second. Benedict would get alongside Geniole for second on Lap 17 as Quesnelle ran fourth ahead of Fumerton, Shepherd, Montanari, Adams, Wilkinson, Maltese, and McIssac. The battle for second continued all the way until Lap 22 with Benedict finally able to clear Geniole for the spot.

Benedict would look to continue moving forward, getting alongside Zardo for the lead with 23 laps on the board as Geniole ran third ahead of Quesnelle, with Shepherd alongside Fumerton for fifth. Benedict would get the lead on Lap 25, with Geniole following him through to bump Zardo back to third. Quesnelle ran fourth with Shepherd now up to fifth ahead of Fumerton, Adams, Wilkinson, Montanari, Maltese, and McIssac.

Danny Benedict would cruise the rest of the way, scoring the victory ahead of Paul Geniole Jr. and Billy Zardo. Gord Shepherd would pass Ron Quesnelle with 19 laps to go for fourth, with Ernie Fumerton finishing sixth ahead of Kendra Adams, Mike Wilkinson, Nic Montanari, Paul Maltese, and Chris McIssac.
