After coming close over the past two years, Dylan Holmes broke through for his first career Sunset Speedway Signs of Innovation Mini Stock feature victory on Saturday night.
Holmes won the first heat ahead of Mike Robinson Jr., Chandler Bos, Peter Wakeling, Eric Rainey, Jason D’Antimo, and Taylor Thring.
Tyler Seaboyer won the second heat ahead of Alex Hastie, Daniel Montanari, Samantha Shaw, Ken Townsend, Cameron McGlashan, Curtis Stewart, and Bob Phinnemore.
Mike Robinson Jr. won the third heat ahead of Bos, Holmes, Thring, Scott McGregor, and Wakeling. D’Antimo failed to finish following an incident on Lap 8 with Wakeling, while Rainey broke.
Daniel Montanari won the fourth heat ahead of Shaw, Hastie, Seaboyer, McGlsshan, Stewart, Phinnemore, and Townsend.
Come feature time, Peter Wakeling started pole ahead of Cameron McGlashan, Bob Phinnemore, Dylan Holmes, Taylor Thring, Chandler Bos, Alex Hastie, Samantha Shaw, Mike Robinson Jr., Daniel Montanari, Scott McGregor, Curtis Stewart, Jason D’Antimo, and Ken Townsend.
The first attempt to start the feature didn’t go smoothly, with Wakeling getting turned into the frontstretch wall as the field was coming to green due to contact from Phinnemore. Wakeling would be done for the event, with Phinnemore sent to the tail of the field for the complete restart.
The second attempt went smoothly with Holmes grabbing the lead ahead of McGlashan and Bos as Seaboyer and Hastie battled for fourth ahead of Robinson Jr. Seaboyer got the spot on Lap 3, bringing Robinson Jr., Shaw, and Montanari through with him. Seaboyer continued to move forward, getting alongside Bos for third at Lap 5, completing the pass a lap later.
Seaboyer was easily able to catch McGlashan, getting alongside him for second at Lap 8, completing the pass two laps later, bringing Robinson Jr. and Montanari through with him over the next four laps. McGlashan now ran fifth ahead of Bos, Shaw, Hastie, and Stewart as McGregor headed down pit road with a problem. Shaw would get alongside Bos for sixth at Lap 16, completing the pass two laps later, with Hastie moving into seventh with five laps to go.
