After seeing six straight different drivers grace Sunset Speedway victory lane, we are now in the stretch of the season where the repeat wins happen as Frank Davey became the third repeat winner on Saturday night.
Ethan Constable won the first heat ahead of Frank Davey, Stefan Semeraro, Coltin Everingham, Mike Weeda, Nick Tooley, and Johnny Morrison.
Dustyn Mombourquette won the second heat ahead of Justin Holmes, Tom Walters, Brandon Passer, and William Hughes.
Coltin Everingham won the third heat ahead of Mike Weeda, Frank Davey, Nick Tooley, Ethan Constable, Stefan Semeraro, and Johnny Morrison.
Tom Walters won the fourth heat ahead of Brandon Passer, Gerrit Tiemersma, Justin Holmes, Dustyn Mombourquette, and William Hughes.
Come feature time, Frank Davey would start deep in the field in 12th, and a lot of people didn’t envision the win happening with how stacked and close the competition is across the division. However, he didn’t let the starting spot deter him as he made his way forward, using a late-race restart to make his way around Mike Weeda to take the lead, pacing the rest of the way en route to the victory. It marks his second win and fourth top-five of the 2018 campaign.
Tom Walters ran in the top-five throughout the event en route to finishing second en route to his second top-five, followed by last week’s feature winner Coltin Everingham with his sixth top-five. Justin Holmes finished fourth for his sixth top-five, followed by Mike Weeda with his fourth top-five.
Gerrit Tiemersma finished sixth to bounce back from bad luck in the qualifying races last week, followed by Stefan Semeraro, Johnny Morrison, Ethan Constable, and Brandon Passer. Dustyn Mombourquette finished 11th after late-race contact with the turn four wall, followed by William Hughes and Nick Tooley.
