After a successful inaugural campaign with the OSCAAR Pro Midgets, Rob Summers put together another solid season en route to finishing sixth in the series standings.
Kicking off the year at Peterborough Speedway, he was quick from the start with a third in his qualifier, and a third in the feature. He then backed it up with another top-five at Flamboro Speedway. Unfortunately, returning to the Hamilton, Ontario-based oval a month later did not go as well as hoped with a 14th-place finish after mechanical issues.
Like a true veteran, he shook off the difficulties quickly, posting a pair of top-fives in the two features at Peterborough Speedway. But the roller coaster evidently continued, with finishes of ninth, 11th, eighth and seventh over the course of the next four main events. He would return to the top-five in the second 25-lap event at Flamboro in August, finishing fifth.
Closing out the year, Summers put together one of his strongest runs of 2017 at Flamboro Speedway’s Frostoberfest, running inside the top-six all feature long en route to a fourth. He then rounded out the year with a 12th at Peterborough Speedway.
On behalf of OSCAAR, congratulations to Rob Summers on his success in 2017. We look forward to seeing you back on track once again next year.
