After coming close throughout the season, Will Gibbons capped off his Sauble Speedway campaign with a trip to feature victory lane.
Gibbons was quick from the get-go, winning his lone heat after starting second, before driving to the front after starting fifth to win the feature.
“It means the world to us to be able to pull off what we were working for the entire season,” he said. “It always works like that. For as long as I can remember, we always figure the car out the last few nights of racing. The last night wasn’t just luck; the car just felt very comfortable and was on a one-way track to the finish line.”
Debuting a brand new CRX this year, Gibbons was impressive on a weekly basis, scoring multiple heat wins and seven feature top-fives in eight nights of competition.
“This car is remarkable,” he said. “I’m sure we could have fought more for the championship, but due to the short season we ran out of time. Mark (DIlley) and Paul (Gresel) made it possible for all of us this year at Sauble, but by the time they got it, it was already too late in the season to add races.”
Gibbons is not done racing yet this year, as he will take part in the short track playoffs, with plans to be at both Sunset Speedway’s Velocity 250 on September 23/24, and Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic on Thanksgiving weekend.
Will Gibbons and Gibbons Racing are proud to be supported by Truckers Toy Store, Norm’s Fast Lube, Stop 23 Auto Sales, and RW Rust Control.
