On Saturday night at Sunset Speedway, DY Racing teammates Eric Yorke and Lisa DeLeeuw would both leave the track with smiles on their faces, following a victory for Yorke and a top-10 for DeLeeuw.
The first round of qualifying saw the pair do well as Yorke posted a runner-up finish to Daniel Montanari, while DeLeeuw finishing third. In the second round of heats, Yorke once again finished second to Montanari, while DeLeeuw placed fourth.
Starting 16th in the 25-lap feature, Eric Yorke would work his way through the field, picking up each position smoothly after a lone caution to start the event, en route to picking up the checkered flag. He marks his third victory and ninth top-five finish this season. Notably, Yorke has been one of the drivers to watch all year in regards to the battle for the championship, posting no finishes outside of the top-five till last weekend when he finished eighth. Now with another win, he should move up to third in the standings when the points are updated later on this week.
For DeLeeuw, she started ninth in the feature and battled hard throughout the entire event against some of the best drivers in the province, en route to crossing the finish line in ninth for her third top-10 of 2017.
The pair will return to Sunset Speedway on August 5 for the 12th night of points competition.
