Despite fighting mechanical issues throughout the entire day, Wally Wilson almost posted a top-10 finish in the Outlaw Midget feature, just missing by a single spot at race’s end.
The problems for Wilson began right away, with the secondary clutch breaking in practice, followed by a breaking a chain in the first heat after hitting the big bump in turn two. Wilson was able to get back out for his second qualifier, though pulled off as he knew the No. 69 Midget wasn’t quite right, yet.
Come time for the feature, he battled hard throughout the event, avoiding the accidents that happened to post an 11th-place finish, despite dealing with a broken engine mount all race long.
The midget is set to go on the back burner for now, though, as Wilson will be back behind the wheel of his familiar modified in two OSCAAR events this coming weekend – Kawartha Speedway on Friday, July 21, followed by Full Throttle Motor Speedway on Sunday, July 23. Wilson feels the bugs that plagued his team the last time out will be gone as they have “changed all the fuel lines and a couple other little setup things since our last time out at Flamboro!”
