This past weekend, race fans and car enthusiasts alike made the trip down to the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Expo to check out the wide variety of vehicles and vendors on display throughout the International Center. After three days with the entire show packed full of people each, you could say it was a great weekend.
The show celebrities of Steve Darnell, Barber Dave, Dan Woods, Linda Vaughn, Jessi Combs and Cherry Dollface each signed countless autographs for the show attendees, while sparking up conversations about memorable factoids.
The car enthusiasts got their taste of beauty as there was a wide variety of cars on display throughout the event, shined to perfection, with many causing jaw-dropping reactions.
There was also a couple racecars on display, too, with the likes of Ethan Constable, Paul Maltese, J.R. Fitzpatrick and more impressing fans with their brand new looks for the season. There was also a couple familiar cars from OSCAAR’s D’Arcy Gibbon and AJ Emms. Each of the race tracks and series promoters did their jobs, as well, as it appears that there will be some new fans in the grandstand once the doors open this season.
Also, who can forget the on-stage activities? The Short Track Night of Champions – successful as always, with a wide variety of drivers up on stage accepting their honors. The crowd also got some bonus entertainment with the speeches. The inaugural Short Track Promoters Panel has to be considered one of the highlights as they each offered some intriguing insight, from the cost of racing to how to get kids out to the track each week. The NASCAR Pinty’s Series panel also was intriguing, with a couple surprise reveals from the drivers as Kerry Micks isn’t expected to compete this year while Larry Jackson is set to go full-time. You also can’t forget the panel featuring DJ Kennington, fresh off running the Daytona 500 last month.
All in all, the fan in me has no complaints about the show happenings throughout the entire weekend. Be sure to stay tuned to SHORT TRACK MUSINGS and POPULAR SPEED over the next couple of weeks as I will be posting stories based on everything that happened at the show, from on-stage quotes to exclusive interviews.
