With each passing day, the schedules continue to become finalized and released as Sauble Speedway released their 2017 tentative schedule last week.
Like they did last year, the beach will open their season in June versus May, with opening night being scheduled for June 17 and featuring Figure 8 races, mini smash and a demolition derby. The more traditional racing opener will come a week later on June 24, with four of the track’s home divisions in action – Late Models, Thunder Cars, Bone Stocks and Junior Late Models – alongside the Ontario Pro Challenge Series. The Late Models have one of the more interesting outlooks for the year, as their mini series is titled “Late Model 360 Series” and will feature twin 30 lap features each night on the schedule, for a total of 360 laps for the year.
As they did last year, Sauble Speedway will once again host a two-day show for Canada Day weekend. Friday June 30 with feature the track’s own Late Models, Thunder Cars and Four Cylinders alongside the Canadian Vintage Modifieds. Then on Saturday July 1, OSCAAR will take to the beach to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday laongside the thunder cars and Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets.
The month of July will be packed throughout, as there’s a special division in the house for three of the four dates following Canada Day. The Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series will make their lone appearance at the beach on July 8 alongside the Thunder Cars, Four Cylinders, Bone Stocks and Junior Late Models. The Legends will then be there a week later on July 15 alongside the same four supporting divisions. July 22 is the only date of the month without a special division, but the Late Models will join the four other divisions to make it a complete show. The month then finishes off with the Ontario Pro Challenge’s second appearance on July 29, alongside the Late Models, Thunder Cars, Four Cylinders and Junior Late Models.
The month of August will kick off in a big way with a two-day event across Saturday and Sunday. Saturday August 5 will see the APC Auto Parts United Late Models of Ontario Tour take to the track for the SPIRA Fire Protection Ltd 100, alongside the Outlaw Midgets and Can-Am Midgets. Then a day later, the Outlaw Midgets will return for a second appearance alongside the track’s own Late Models, Thunder Cars, Bone Stocks and Junior Late Models.
On August 19, OSCAAR and the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series will both make their second appearance of the season alongside the Junior Late Models. The month of August will conclude with the Canadian Vintage Modifieds, Legends, Thunder Cars and Outlaw Midgets on August 26.
The season will then conclude on September 2nd with CLASSIC ROCK CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT, featuring the Late Models, Thunder Cars, Four Cylinders, Bone Stocks and Junior Late Models. Those divisions will also be joined by the Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets.
