Gary Elliott may not be running the whole OSCAAR modified schedule this season himself, but his car will be at each of the events.
Rob Di Venanzo announced on Tuesday that he will drive the No. 36 OSCAAR Modified for Gary Elliott Motorsports in three of the events on the 2017 OSCAAR Modified schedule.
“This deal came together very quickly and I am thrilled to drive for recent Flamboro Speedway Hall of Fame inductee Gary Elliott and his team,” Di Venanzo released. “Gary and my late father had a relationship that spanned over 30 years and this feels like a natural fit for me. In addition to this I will be crewing full time for David Balych and his #12 OSCAAR Modified in 2017.
“In addition to Gary Elliott Motorsports longtime sponsors Quaker State and Lincoln Welders, MRC Wireless will once again return supporting my efforts. I hope to announce additional partners in the weeks to come. Thank you Gary!”
Last season, Di Venanzo posted a 10th place finish in the final series points standings despite missing a couple races due to a flip mid-season at Peterborough Speedway’s Chase for the Colours. It’s worth noting he posted some top-10s throughout the year, including a best finish of seventh at Flamboro Speedway in July.
Meanwhile, Gary Elliott’s consistency over the course of the entire 2017 season resulted in the veteran picking up a fourth place finish in points. After starting out the year with two top-seven finishes in the first five races, he finally broke through for his first OSCAAR win at Flamboro Speedway in August. Running in the runner-up spot for the majority of the race, Elliott was able to take the lead with two laps to go when race leader Luke Gignac experienced a mechanical issue. Elliott then led the final two laps behind the wheel of his No. 36 Quaker State, Lincoln Welders, JDS Insurance, Open Doors, Cabral Racing Promotions, Timber Green Landscaping, Grindstone Property Management, Speedway Photos, Permatex, Artica Home Heating & Service, Drew Mac Securities, SU Sports, Scripture Union, EmbroidMe, PPG, Oakville Trailers, FMS and Creative Edge Graphics Modified en route to scoring his first career feature victory. He then finished off the season with a pair of a thirds and a ninth.
