Luke Gignac Edges Out Wally Wilson for Modified Victory at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario — Starting on pole, Luke Gignac dominated en route to winning the Modified feature at Sunset Speedway.

Gignac got himself a start on the front row following the post-qualifying invert, and took advantage of the track position. He pulled out to a straightaway advantage, set for glory and a checkered flag. The final laps saw the lead be cut down significantly, with Wally Wilson closing in. Wilson made his move with a couple laps to go, as the pair ran the final two side-by-side with Gignac edging out Wilson by 0.017 seconds.

Wilson topped the board in time trials, though found himself fifth on the starting grid. It took some time working his way through the traffic, including several laps side-by-side with Amanda Balson. Though once he worked his way into second on Lap 6, he began closing the gap on the leader.

Balson and Chris Milwain battled back and forth the second half of the event, trading third throughout the laps, with Balson coming out ahead of Milwain. Josh Gruntz completed the top-five in front of Bob Franks and Andrew Massey.
