John and Frank Casale Inducted into Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame

MILLGROVE, Ontario — Back in 1972, Frank Casale got married. It was also at the same time he and his brother John made a big purchase, in taking the reigns of Flamboro Speedway.

For the past 53 years, Frank and John Casale have been putting on stock car racing throughout the summer on a weekly basis. Whether it’s been battles among the past greats of the short track community, or putting on signature shows like the Gold Rush and Frostoberfest, they have entertained plenty of fans over that time.

The simple reason for the commitment – their love of the sport, as expressed by Frank saying they enjoy the show whether it be at their own track or another host.

Frank and John were honored for their committment to the sport, both being inducted into the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame on Saturday, February 15.

“This is a great honor for us being inducted into the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame,” John Casale said afterwards. “I mean, it’s quite a big deal. 53 years went by and feels just like yesterday. But it’s been very enjoyable, and I’d like to thank everyone that was involved voting us in. I’d really like to thank the race fans over the years. We’ve got great race fans at our place, and we’ve got great sponsors and great racers. So all in all, it’s been a good ride.”

The brothers join several of their past driver alumni in the Hall of Fame, including Pete Shepherd III and Murray Timm who were inducted alongside them during the ceremony at the Canadian International Auto Show.

“I’m very proud of all the racers that have been inducted,” Casale shared. “Like, we started with grassroots racing and a lot of these boys and girls made a career out of it, which made it very rewarding for me. To hear these names in NASCAR or the APC races, like really these guys started at my place so I’m really proud of that.”

The track was also recognized during the ceremony for their work in helping get the next generation of racers started in hosting the Waterloo Regional Karting Club.

“The little guys – that’s the place that they get started,” Casale commented. “And I will tell you that we have a lot of really nice kids there on a Saturday morning. Anybody that wants to come out, it’s free to watch them and they’re great. I get a lot of laughs out of them because they’re little tiny guys with their uniform, and then they put their helmet on, and it’s bigger than they are. But a lot of nice kids and it’s a family affair.”
