Robbie Sikes Preparing for Big Season of Legend Racing

With great side-by-side competition weekly and the relative cost, the Legends are a division which are taking off with several drivers ready to join the division in 2025. One of those that has been already involved is Robbie Sikes.

“I think it’s great you can load the car up and go anywhere in North America with the same rule,” he explained. “Everyone has closer to the same stuff then with other divisions around here. All the people involved with the series as well are a great group to be at the track with each week.”

With the hype surrounding the division, it has the excitement high for Sikes entering 2025.

“I think it’s going to be a big year for legends racing,” Sikes commented. “I think the two series are doing a great job working together. We’re looking forward to building on our progression as a team.”

It’s why he admits being excited about all the tracks on the 2025 schedule, with Full Throttle Motor Speedway standing out above the rest, with hopes of returning back to victory lane.

“It would be huge,” he commented. “It’s definitely been awhile since I’ve drove to victory lane. It would mean alot to do that for the race team and my family. Would definitely be cool to experience with my boys.”

In the chase for success, Sikes says he needs to improve his short run speed, to therefore giving him a better qualifying spot as not “reaching my full potential till feature time” makes features “much more difficult to win.”

Sikes’ jump to the Legends came after racing full size stock cars, from mini stocks to late models.

“There are definitely a lot of similarities and differences,” he commented. “The power to weight ratio effects how you handle the car. A lot of things you’d change in a late model aren’t available in a Legend, so that’s also a learning curve.”

With everything he’s done, the next thing he is looking at trying would be a road race. He had hoped to run the event with the Great Lakes Series this year, but “unfortunately it conflicts with our schedule.”

Through the years, there has been some memorable moments, with the biggest of those being an unfortunate experience.

“That’s only because it’s shared to Facebook every year,” he said. “It’s the wreck with myself and Desi Walt at Barrie Speedway.”
