Gary Slama Scores Cool Guy 35 Victory at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario — There was a lot of drama throughout the event, but it ultimately ended with Gary Slama visiting victory lane.

The Flamboro Speedway regular kept his nose clean during The Cool Guy 35 on Sunday at Sunset Speedway, taking the lead at the halfway mark and proceeding to drive away from the field as he left the drama in the rearview. Josh Berry in his newly acclaimed ride was able to get up to second, and found his way to the back bumper of the No. 90. He tried to find his way by, including a couple bumps offered, but was unable to make it happen en route to second.

Phil Givens took the hard way to his podium performance, having to battle back after making contact with Kris Khan, which then resulted in Brandon Steele driving over the hood of Khan to end both Khan and Steele’s races early. Givens worked his way back up to third, only to be sent sideways a couple times over the final two laps, courtesy of Justice Jones.

Jones was disqualified after crossing the finish line in fourth, handing the position over to Wally Wilson in his rare bone stock appearance after keeping his nose clean all race. Calvin Reesor fought back from issues to round out the top-five.

Heat victories went to Brandon Steele (x2), Kyle Neumeister and Kris Khan.
