LONDON, Ontario — Showing speed on both days throughout the Great Canadian Weekend at Delaware Speedway, Rick Spencer-Walt ended his APC Series season on a high note.
Spencer-Walt was fast once again at Delaware Speedway behind the wheel of his Pro Late Model, laying down a lap of 17.954 seconds in qualifying to put him second on the grid.
The invert placed him seventh on the grid, where he looked to move his way forward in the early stages of the event in hopes of taking advantage of the outside lane. Unfortunately, the first half of the race did not go as planned with Spencer-Walt fading back to 11th.
He would look to gain ground through the second half of the event, though a lack of cautions keeping the field spread apart combined with everyone close on lap times made the challenge harder than intended. As a result, he was only able to make his way back up to eighth by the checkered flag.
He completes the APC Auto Parts United Late Model Series ranked third in the standings with five top-five’s and seven top-10’s in nine races.
Spencer-Walt was also back behind the wheel of the Super Stock on Friday night, showing speed immediately in qualifying. He ran with the leaders throughout the night, taking the lead on Lap 39 at the front of the field. He led the final 11 laps to cross the finish line in first.
Unfortunately, he was disqualified post-race as a result of being 12 pounds under the allotted weight limit set by the series.
The team will now look forward to Frostoberfest at Flamboro Speedway in continuing their success.
