BEHIND THE WHEEL: 5 OSCAAR Hot Rod Drivers to Watch Going into Fall Velocity at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario — After excitement across the province this year, the Qwick Wick Fire Starter OSCAAR Hot Rods are ready for Fall Velocity at Sunset Speedway on Saturday, September 17, and Sunday, September 18.

Paul Senior hopes to have a good outing as he ran strong last season, scoring the victory at Fall Velocity. He has scored a top-10 finish in his last seven series starts, including a runner-up at Delaware Speedway. He placed fourth and eighth his latest appearances at Sunset.

“Well, Sunset Speedway is my favorite track to race and you know when you get there the competition is tough,” Senior commented. “The only thing we’d like to accomplish is winning the race on four wheels.”

Connor Ellis hopes to score his third-career top-10 finish following a solid 12th-place finish at Flamboro Speedway. He scored a track-best 11th at Sunset Speedway in July.

“My thoughts for going in to this weekend are to keep my head clear and stay focused on getting through the race,” Ellis said.

Donny Beatty is another driver looking to keep the momentum rolling, following back-to-back top-10 finishes in his latest series appearances. He knows how to get the job done at Sunset, though, scoring a pair of top-five’s in three races this season.

“I have had a lot of fun running Sunset this year, so I am really looking forward to the Velocity weekend,” Beatty shared. “See if we can continue our good luck there

Sean Walker will hope to improve upon his previous Sunset Speedway results this season, with his best finish coming in July with a 14th. Notably, he scored a track-best ninth in June 2019.

“Sunset will be busy as I’m running a Legend car and Hot Rod – as always, have fun on the track and off,” he said. “It’s a hobby to enjoy.”

Gary Hannah hopes to turn things around after failing to start the last two series events due to mechanical gremlins. He picked up a track-best 14th at Sunset Speedway in June, to go with a ninth at Peterborough Speedway.

“I am just hoping to be able to finish a race come Sunset with all the bad luck I have had from Brighton to Flamboro,” he admitted. “We are replacing some new parts to better our car. My fingers are crossed to get a good finish.”

OSCAAR is proud to be supported by Qwick Wick Fire Starters, Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Park, JRS Auctions, Point S Tire and Auto Services, Knightworks Design, McColl Racing Enterprises, EPIC Racewear, and The Fyre Place & Patio Shop.
