INNISFIL, Ontario — After experiencing success in the Mini Stock over the past couple years, Cole Quinton took the next step by making his Pro Late Model debut this past weekend at Sunset Speedway.

He would show speed in time trials, posting a lap of 14.592 seconds to place him fifth on the board.

One of his fellow competitors did not start the feature, moving him up to the fourth starting spot. He would run alongside past track champions and feature winners, gaining experiencing along the way – which was the goal for the night.

He’d ultimately fade back to eighth with 13 laps on the board, though looked to settle in and focus on the team’s goals for the night. Unfortunately, the second half of the night did not go as planned. He got into the outside wall and suffered a tire failure on Lap 23, but was able to return to the speedway following hard work by the Spira Racing team on pit road. He looked to regain the lost ground, until the car shut off under the following yellow flag and would not restart.

It was determined an ignition issue took him out of the event. Thanks to Ken Spira and Spira Racing for the opportunity behind the wheel of their late model.

Shout-out to Cole Quinton Racing’s Mini Stock crew chief Erik Dalla Riva on scoring his first career Pro Late Model feature victory.

While his debut did not go as planned, it worth noting he has scored seven straight podium performances behind the wheel of his mini stock, with two victories and 16 top-five finishes through 17 races.
