MILLGROVE, Ontario — Battling throughout the feature, Jake Watson was able to score a solid top-five finish at Flamboro Speedway on Saturday night.
Watson showed speed right from the start of the night, scoring a third-place finish in the first heat. The second qualifier would be cancelled due to the night running late.
Starting fourth for the feature, Watson would get stuck in the outside line, fading back to sixth. He was able to quickly make up some of the lost ground, returning to the top-five on Lap 7. He would look to track down the leaders, though ultimately lost ground as they began to weave their way through lap traffic. He also slipped up slightly, fading back to sixth just past halfway.
Watson would look to regain the lost ground, when the event was called on Lap 30 due to an incident in turn four. He was credited with a fifth-place finish.
It marks his seventh straight top-10 finish. He also currently leads the Rookie of the Year standings.
