Cory McAllister Scores First Trip to Sunset Speedway Super Stock Victory Lane

INNISFIL, Ontario — Battling electrical issues, it was not looking like Cory McAllister would even make the green flag for the Super Stock feature on Saturday night. However, hard work put in by not only his own team, but others who pitched in, paid off in the form of a checkered flag at Sunset Speedway.

Gerrit Tiemersma won the first heat in front of Paul Pepper, Tyler Hawn, Nick Tooley, Brandon McFerran, and Matt McGrath.

Johnny Morrison was victorious in the second qualifier ahead of Todd Davenport, Cory McAllister, Jordan Howse, and Connor Maltese.

Paul Pepper won the third heat in front of McFerran, Tiemersma, McGrath, Tooley, and Hawn.

Cory McAllister was victorious in the fourth qualifier ahead of Shepherd, Howse, Morrison, and Maltese.

Come feature time, the early laps saw a battle for the lead between Paul Pepper and Tyler Hawn in front of Johnny Morrison. Pepper grabbed the advantage on Lap 2, with Cory McAllister getting alongside Hawn a lap later, as Morrison and Jordan Howse battled for fifth.

McAllister got the spot on Lap 4, just as the caution came out for Gerrit Tiemersma going around off of turn four. With 27 laps to go, Pepper led McAllister, Hawn, Morrison, Howse, Nick Tooley, Brandon McFerran, Gord Shepherd, Matt McGrath, Connor Maltese, and Tiemersma.

Cory McAllister got a good restart to grab the advantage in front of Pepper, Morrison, Tooley, and Howse, as Tiemersma battled Hawn for sixth, with Shepherd and McFerran side-by-side for eighth. The yellow flag would return, though, courtesy of both Tiemersma and McFerran around in turn four this time.

The restart would see Pepper pull down to the very inside next to the wall with a mechanical problem, as McAllister sped away with the advantage, with Tooley up to second in front of Morrison. The action did not last long, though, with the caution on Lap 10 for McFerran around in turn four once again.

McAllister got a good restart ahead of Tooley, Morrison and Tiemersma, with Hawn and Howse side-by-side for fourth. Morrison would then get alongside Tooley for second on Lap 13, as Howse took fifth, bringing Shepherd through with him.

Morrison moved into second a couple laps later, with Tooley now third in front of Tiemersma, Howse and Shepherd, with McFerran and Hawn side-by-side. McFerran took the seventh spot on Lap 17, as Maltese and McGrath rounded out the top-10. The shuffling continued, with Tiemersma getting by Tooley for third on Lap 27, and Shepherd by Howse a lap later.

Cory McAllister led the rest of the way en route to winning in front of Johnny Morrison, Gerrit Tiemersma, Nick Tooley, and Gord Shepherd. Jordan Howse placed sixth, followed by Brandon McFerran, Tyler Hawn, Connor Maltese, and Matt McGrath.
