INNISFIL, Ontario — After picking up his first checkered flag of 2022 in qualifying action last week, Andrew Shilling kept the momentum rolling into a feature victory on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
SKLD Motorsports showed speed from the initial green flag on the evening, with Andrew Shilling and Austyn Jennett placing fifth and sixth in the first heat, respectively. They got better as the night went on, with a third and fourth in the second round of qualifying.
The strong qualifying effort put Shilling on the front row for the feature, to which he took advantage of the position immediately. He took the lead on an early race restart, driving away from the furious pack of competitors. He was able to build up an advantage, maintain it all the way to the checkered flag en route to the victory.
Austyn Jennett also put together an impressive run after having to start deep in the field, working his way forward throughout the event to place eighth.
Unfortunately, the gremlins continued for Karlie Wilman as the team arrived at the track only to discover another unexpected issue with her car, forcing her to remain out of action for the night.
SKLD Motorsports is proud to be supported by Wilman Haulage, Hamilton Contracting, Able Taxi, The Canoe, SMG Motorsports, Brent Harrison, and Short Track Musings.
