INNISFIL, Ontario — After battling various mechanical issues the past couple weeks, Chris Allard was able to put together a season-best runner-up on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
Allard started off the night by pacing the first four laps of his the first heat en route to a runner-up finish. He then started at the back of the second qualifier, working his way through the field en route to a third-place finish.
Starting at the front for the 25-lap feature, he was fast from the drop of the green flag, pacing the first five laps. He would get challenged for the top spot, but was able to hold off his fellow competitor for a couple laps. Unfortunately, it would not be enough, ultimately giving up the lead to the defending track champion.
He would continue to battle hard through the remaining laps, ultimately scoring a runner-up finish.
It marks his fifth straight top-10.
