INNISFIL, Ontario — Battling all night long, Jake Watson kept the solid runs rolling with a top-10 on Saturday at Sunset Speedway.
Watson started off the night solidly with a fourth in the first heat, followed by a third in the second qualifier.
The strong effort would allow him to take the green flag for the 40-lap feature from fourth, though he’d get shuffled back to sixth in the early stages on the outside lane. He continued to battle back, ultimately running seventh when the first caution flag fell at Lap 19.
Restarting on the eighth row, he would drop back to ninth on the restart. He would try to battle back through the final 10 laps, though unable to make up the lost ground with a ninth-place finish.
It marks his third straight top-10 finish following an eighth at Sunset Speedway, placing sixth in the series standings. He also currently leads the Rookie of the Year standings.
Watson will be back behind the wheel of the No. 88 Modified on Friday, July 1 and Saturday, July 2 at Delaware Speedway.
