Consistency through the season would work in Rob Bromley’s favor en route to placing fourth in the final Knightworks Design OSCAAR Hot Rod standings.
Unloading at Sunset Speedway for the season opener, Bromley showed speed in qualifying with a third in his heat. However, mechanical issues would see him fail to take the green flag for the feature. Returning to the Innisfil, Ontario facility two weeks later, he made his way into the top-five at the halfway mark and battled hard through the second half to score a fourth.
The series’ annual trip to Brighton Speedway saw Adam Tyo jump behind the wheel, though pulling off on the opening lap.
Bromley would be back in charge a week later at Sauble Speedway, and looked to poise to repeat his winning performance a year ago at the beach in starting on pole with qualifying cancelled. He was solid through the majority of the event, holding off each charge from behind for the top spot. Unfortunately, fuel pick-up issues on a late-race restart saw the No. 6 Javelin not go, resulting in a 17th-place finish.
Tyo would get another chance at Peterborough Speedway, looking to turn the team’s luck around. Despite going for a spin out of sixth on Lap 17, he fought back to finish 11th.
The series’ third race of the year at Sunset saw Bromley return to the seat, and run inside the top-10 all day long en route to sixth. He unfortunately struggled a week later at Delaware Speedway, scoring a 13th.
Jessica James made her Hot Rod debut at Flamboro Speedway, and ran inside the top-10 until contact on the backstretch at the halfway mark took her out of the event. Tyo returned for the finale at Peterborough, battling just outside the top-10 all race long to a 12th.
Despite a series of highs and lows, it is clear the No. 6 Javelin has a lot of speed and is capable of reaching OSCAAR victory lane. This is certainly something Rob Bromley will be hoping to accomplish in 2022.
