APC United Late Model Series & Super Stock Series To Battle at Flamboro Speedway

MILLGROVE, Ontario — The fans at Flamboro Speedway will get to see some of the best drivers in Pro Late Models and Super Stock once again in 2022, as the APC Auto Parts United Late Models Series will be visiting the facility twice, bringing the Qwick Wick Super Stock Series with them along one time.

The first Late Model event will take place on Saturday June 4, with the second 100-lapper taking place on Saturday, July 16. The two races are part of the nine-race schedule that spans across the province of Ontario from May to September. Meanwhile, the Super Stocks will be attending on the first of those two dates as part of their six-race schedule in their third year tied to the APC program.

The APC Late Model tour has always put on stellar features at Flamboro Speedway, as evident by both of their appearances in 2021.

The event in July saw more action than anybody could envision, with several twists and turns throughout the event as drivers battled hard for a chance at victory.

After watching Jake Sheridan dominate the first half, Brandon Watson staked his claim for the top spot on a restart with about 30 laps to go. The pair would trade blows back and forth, with Watson grabbing the advantage. Unfortunately, Sheridan would not be as lucky, going around following contact with Josh Stade.

Andrew Gresel would be next to plate to challenge Watson, and the battle between the division heavyweights would not disappoint. They’d both push each other to their limits in the final laps, with Watson getting sideways and in the backstretch wall, while Gresel got sideways down the shoot the next lap. A trade of blows would see Gresel get real sideways with three laps to go, going into turn three full bore on an odd angle, resulting in the No. 81 going around in the corner.

Pete Shepherd III and Treyten Lapcevich would each take up the challenge next, with Watson going around in turn three. The driver of the No. 9 caught a lucky break, though, as the caution had been called just prior to the spin for Gresel’s hood lying on the race track.

Brandon Watson was given back his spot ahead of the field, getting a good restart and snagging his second straight series victory in a row. Pete Shepherd III out-battled Lapcevich for second, with Jordan Sims and Jo Lawrence rounding out the top-five.

The September event saw a clear dominant face from the first practice session, as 2021 Flamboro Pro Late Model Champion Kyle Steckly led the way. After timing in the fastest in qualifying, he drove his way to the front to take over the top spot with 30 laps to go and lead the rest of the way. Treyten Lapcevich finished second, followed by  Brandon Watson, Connor James, and Pete Shepherd.

The Pro Late Models in general have proven to be competitive at Flamboro Speedway, as evident by the Grisdale Triple Crown coming down to a final event for the top spot in the standings , with Shae Gemmell coming out on top.

The Super Stocks, though, can be put into the same conversation, as evident by strong competition throughout 2021. The summer event this past year came down to the final laps, with a three-way battle for the top spot as Gerrit Tiemersma came out in front ahead of Lane Zardo and Ethan Constable.

With a history of must-see races at Flamboro Speedway, both of these dates should be on the must-attend list for any race fan. There will also be plenty of other big events on the 2022 schedule, which will be released by track officials closer to the race season.
