INNISFIL, Ontario — After a rocky start to 2021, things seem to be rolling for Rick Spencer-Walt as he scored the victory in the Limited Late Model portion of the Shawn Garrior Memorial at Sunset Speedway.
Off the drop of the green flag, Allan Inglis broke out to the early advantage while the rest of the field got hung up double-wide with Mike Wilkinson and Daniel Montanari side-by-side. Wilkinson took over second with seven laps on the board, leaving Montanari to battle with Alex Hastie for third. Unfortunately, it did not go as planned with a yellow flag at Lap 12 for a caution involving Montanari, Dustyn Mombourquette and Miles Tyson.
Inglis got a good restart at the front of the field, though was unable to get away far, as Tyson would get by Inglis for the top spot on Lap 20. Rick Spencer-Walt would quickly follow him through, remaining Tyson’s bumper trying to find a way by for the lead. His efforts would be successful, taking over the top spot with 25 laps on the board.
Rick Spencer-Walt led the rest of the way for the victory, marking his second straight Limited Late Model win in a row. It allowed him to close the gap on the points lead, now only five markers behind Paul Maltese for the top spot.
Miles Tyson scored a career-best second finish after winning both of his qualifying heats, followed a season-best for Alex Hastie in third. Paul Maltese and Billy Zardo rounded out the top-five, followed by Allan Inglis, Daniel Montanari, Kendra Adams, Mike Wilkinson, and Brandt Graham.
Tyler Sagan finished 11th, followed by Chris McIssac and Dustyn Mombourquette.
