INNISFIL, Ontario — Making his first appearance at Sunset Speedway, Cole Quinton would score a podium finish.
The driver of the No. 18 Mustang utilized the pre-race practice sessions to get used to the oval in figuring out the quick way around, getting faster each lap. His progress showed right from the first drop of the green flag on Saturday night, with a pair of runner-ups in his qualifying heats.
Starting 11th in the feature, Quinton wasted no time beginning to make his way forward, as evident by a three-wide move going into turn three on the opening lap. He would escape a wreck in the early stages of the event, allowing him to move up to eighth for the restart.
He would battle three-wide once again, with the persistence paid off as he moved up to fourth prior to the halfway mark. He continued moving forward, passing Curtis Stewart for third before the yellow flag at Lap 14.
The late race restart would not go well further back in the field, as a crash took out several contenders outside the top-six. Due to the length of clean-up, race officials shortened the event at 16 of 25 laps. Quinton was credited with a third-place finish.
He is proud to be sponsored by Wheeler Construction, Just Foam It, Spira Fire Protection, JT Excavating, Stage it with Style, Elmsa Steel, Sunvale Homes, Source for Sports, Lucas Oil, Wix Filters, Highgrade Roofing, Pita Pit Orangeville, Nick’s Journey, and Bob’s Ice Cream on-board the No. 18 Mustang.
