Rick Spencer-Walt Just Misses Top-10 Following Late-Race Contact

INNISFIL, Ontario — Making his return to a Super Stock on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway, Rick Spencer-Walt just missed the top-10 following a late-race incident.

Filling in for Cory McAllister, he would utilize the qualifying heats to continue getting used to the No. 71 entry and getting it closer to his driving style.

Starting mid-pack for the 30-lap feature, Spencer-Walt began to make his way forward, picking off each driver one-by-one, and escaping the early spin by a fellow competitor. His efforts paid off as he’d break into the top-five, poised for a strong finish. However, the handling began to go away in the second half of the race, resulting in him fading back to seventh after the halfway mark.

Spencer-Walt would find himself locked in a battle with Gerrit Tiemersma for position, with the pair trading a couple bumps while side-by-side. The contact would grow from there, resulting in the No. 17 going around. As an involved car, Spencer-Walt made his way down pit road for repairs and restarted at the tail of the field.

With not many laps left on the board, Spencer-Walt was only able to rebound back to finish 12th.

Spencer-Walt will be back behind the wheel of his familiar No. 31 Limited Late Model this Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
