After a demanding schedule last season across the province in 2019, Brandon Feeney is taking a step back this coming campaign.
“Due to lack of funding, we will be running a partial late model scheduled at various different tracks, just chasing wins and experience,” he commented. “We will also have a new car, that has not been revealed yet.”
Even though he would prefer to be running a full schedule, he admits that the opportunity before him has him excited due to not having to worry about any pressure, and the ability to focus on just having fun.
“The goal is to have fun and race a bunch of new tracks and learn – maybe even get that first checkered flag in a Late Model,” he added.
Although the schedule is not concrete event, he will certainly be appearing at both Peterborough Speedway and Sunset Speedway throughout 2020. Perhaps redemption may be in order as his first couple trips to Sunset brought forth “a string of bad luck” with just one top-10 finish – ninth on September 7 – through the summer. In contrast, he was able to find his groove at Peterborough, ranking third in the year-end standings.
“2019 was great with me getting third in points at my home track Peterborough Speedway,” he commented. “We also got to multiple different race tracks and drove a bunch of different cars in having a helmet will travel style campaign.”
Feeney’s marketing partners, as well as additional plans surrounding the season, will be revealed in the coming months.
