INNISFIL, Ontario — Making his Ontario Outlaw Super Late Model Series debut at Sunset Speedway, Robbie Sikes showed a lot of speed before mechanical issues ending his night early.
Posting the 10th quickest time in qualifying, Sikes began to make his way forward immediately, running sixth as of Lap 3. He’d battle side-by-side with Adrian Foster for sixth through the beginning stages, ultimately fading back to ninth by Lap 15. He’d remain there through the next six laps, avoiding an incident ahead of him on Lap 21 to move up two spots.
Restarting seventh, he’d battle side-by-side with multi-time champion Glenn Watson on the restart, ultimately fading back to ninth over the next eight laps. He’d then avoid an incident ahead of him on Lap 61 to gain a couple positions, but would get caught up in the next incident on the restart. He would look to be set to gain back the lost ground, but ultimately went around once again on the second restart, before stopping in turn four on the third attempt.
He’d be unable to get the car restarted, ultimately being credited with a 10th-place finish.
