Rick Spencer-Walt Out-Duels Shepherd for Late Model Victory

It was a battle between heavy weights, but the fans at Sunset Speedway certainly got treated to a show as Rick Spencer-Walt out-dueled Gord Shepherd to win the Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Park Late Model feature.

For the second feature, Ron Quesnelle started pole ahead of Kendra Adams, Travis Hallyburton, Mike Wilkinson, and Gord Shepherd. Thayne Hallyburton started sixth, followed by Danny Benedict, Ernie Fumerton, Rick Spencer-Walt, and Dwayne Baker. Daniel Montanari started 11th, followed by Robbie Sikes, Stefan Semeraro, Paul Maltese, Brandon Feeney, Chris McIssac, Lorne Quackenbush, and Allan Inglis.

While Kendra Adams led the initial laps, it’d be Gord Shepherd moving his way into the lead with pass on Travis Hallyburton at the halfway mark of the 35-lap feature. It would not take long for Rick Spencer-Walt to follow, with Spencer-Walt right on Shepherd’s back bumper with 10 to go. Spencer-Walt would make his move with seven to go, with the pair remaining side-by-side right to the checkered as Spencer-Walt beat Shepherd by 0.600 seconds.

The victory for Spencer-Walt helps extend his points lead, and marks his fourth victory with 12 top-five finishes on the season. Gord Shepherd finished second for his seventh top-five, followed by Travis Hallyburton, Dwayne Baker, and Kendra Adams.

Danny Benedict finished sixth for his eighth top-10, followed by Ron Quesnelle, Mike Wilkinson, Ernie Fumerton, and Daniel Montanari. Thayne Hallyburton finished 11th, followed by Paul Maltese, Stefan Semeraro, Al Inglis, Chris McIssac, Brandon Feeney, Robbie Sikes, and Lorne Quackenbush.
