Great Friday night for racing at Delaware Speedway to kickoff the long weekend. Another full field of racers in the pits made an exciting evening of racing. With the TransAxle Super Stocks, Demar Aggregates Trucks, Doxtator Property Maintenance V8 Stocks and D.A.D.S Bone Stocks all on the card for the evening, made for a full night of racing. After group qualifications started off the evening, 10 lap Heat Races were up for all divisions.
Bone Stock Heat #1 – David Rockwood #43, picked up the first heat over the #27 of Andrew Peach
Bone Stock Heat #2 – Jason Lovie #21c scored a wild win in a 3 wide finish at the line over Brent Pelley #77 and Chris Medlinger #75 in one of the closest finishes ever at Delaware. Points leading car #50 of Kris Lawrence, being driven by Jay Chappell, was badly damaged in a front stretch crash
Truck Heat – Points Leader Jacob Campbell #44 picked up the win
V8 Stock Heat – Points leader Barry Watson picked up another win in his #45 Camaro
Super Stock Heat #1 – Rookie Derek Moesker #51 got his second Heat win of 2019
Super Stock Heat #2 – Trevor Collver #1, again super strong was winner
BONE STOCK FEATURE
21 Bone Stocks came down for the green flag to start their 30 lap Feature. Jordan Willms #92 lead the first 2 laps before Matt Langford’s #03, took over and started to stretch out a lead. By lap 6, two-time Feature winner Chris Medlinger #75 had caught Langford and took over the lead. Smooth racing was in order and by lap 10, the top 5 were Medlinger #75, Langford #03, Brent Pelley #77, Jason Lovie #21c and the #55 of Craig Cole. Medlinger was cruising at the front with a 10-car length lead by lap 15. The top 5 remained pretty much the same with the #87 of Mike Ebert moving into 3rd. Caution on lap 26 as Nathan Rhea #26 looses a wheel coming out of turn 2 and spins across the track and was hit hard by the #11 of Robert Wolliston, who had no place to go to avoid. During this caution Jordan Morris #73 comes into the pits for minor repairs and rejoins the field at the back of the pack. Green flag comes out with 4 laps to go, with Cole #55 grabbing the 3rd position. The race went caution free to the finish with Chris Medlinger #75 picking up his 3rd Feature win of 2019. Matt Langford #03 held off a fast closing #55 of Craig Cole. Jason Lovie #21c grabbed 4th and David Rockwood #43 finished out the top 5.
COMBINED V8 STOCK / TRUCK FEATURE
The ever exciting V8 / Truck Feature took the green with Austin Gauld #18 Truck leading the way. His lead was short lived as Bill Brekelmens #07 V8 Stock took over the lead before lap 1 was completed. Fast improving Brekelmens lead for 2 laps, before the extremely quick, black Monte Carlo #33 of Paul Fothergill charged into the lead and started to pull away. Derek McCullough, in his first appearance of 2019, driving Cody Payne’s #00 looking very strong moved into 2nd place on lap 9. At this point, leader Fothergill was long gone. Points leader Barry Watson #45 started to make his move and moved into 2nd by the halfway point. The top 5 at this point was Fothergill, Watson, McCullough, Devon Bloemendal running strong in his #01 Truck and Bill Brekelmens. Watson started to reduce the 20-car length lead of Fothergill. Bloemendal moved into 3rd showing strength in his truck. With 5 laps to go and the leader now in traffic, Watson was right on the bumper of Fothergill. With 2 laps to go Watson showing great speed passed Fothergill going into turn 3. That’s how they finished with points leader Barry Watson grabbing his 4th Feature win of the year, Paul Fothergill #33 in 2nd, Devon Bloemendal #01 3rd, Derek McCullough #00 4th and Bill Brekelmens #07 rounding out the top 5. Devon Bloemendal grabs the Truck Feature portion win with his 1st Feature win of 2019.
SUPER STOCK FEATURE
Another sensational 30 lap Super Stock Feature finished off the evening. Derek Moesker in his immaculate #51 Camaro lead them down to the green flag. Improving every week, the rookie in the Super Stock division held onto the top spot until lap 9, when Jamie Klumper in his #07 grabbed the lead going into turn 3. Klumper was setting a very quick pace as the race unfolded. On lap 14, David McCullough #39 was showing power as he moved inside Rick Verberne’s #21 Dodge Challenger for the 3rd position. At the halfway point, Jamie Klumper still in the top spot, with now the #9 of Andrew Ferreira, McCullough #39, Trevor Collver #1, storming through the field from starting in dead last and Rick Verberne #21 rounding out the top 5. Lap 18 was a shuffle in the top 5, with Ferreira moving into the top spot with a strong pass over Klumper and Collver moving into the 3rd spot. Andrew Ferreira #9 showing impressive power opened up an 8-car length lead over the second place Klumper. Collver, showing his usual speed moves into the runner-up spot on lap 24. For the remainder of the caution free 30 laps, Collver tried to reel in the #9, but to no avail. At the finish it was Andrew Ferreira #9 for his 2ndFeature win of the season, with a 5-car length lead over Trevor Collver #1, Jamie Klumper #07, Rick Verberne #21 and David McCullough #39 rounding out the top five.
