HAGERSVILLE, Ontario — If you want to bet on the next driver to score their first career APC Auto Parts United Late Models of Ontario Tour victory, you should look towards Treyten Lapcevich.
The young man showed speed on Thursday night at Jukasa Motor Speedway, challenging Brandon Watson throughout the second half of the event en route to a runner-up.
For Lapcevich, it marks his second runner-up in a row as he dominated the London Recreational Racing 100 at Flamboro Speedway, before losing out to Billy Schwartzenburg on a late-race restart. To date, the teenager has scored five top-nine finishes in six races.
“It’s coming,” he stated. “I have to patient. It was a good points night for us, though, so we have to think of the big picture really.”
With the runner-up, he currently sits fourth in the series standings, just eight points behind Shae Gemmell for the top spot. A victory in the next couple weeks could help those championship chances, and would result in quite the celebration for the Lapcevich family.
“I really like the tracks that coming up so I think I can have a run for a win here,” he commented.
