Making his way through the field on Saturday night, Gord Shepherd would make the last lap pass to win the Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Park Late Model feature at Sunset Speedway.
Virtue of a runner-up in the first feature, Shepherd was forced to start 11th. He would make his way through the traffic, getting alongside Ron Quesnelle for the lead. It’d go right down to the last lap, with Shepherd beating Quesnelle to the line by 0.234 seconds for the win.
It marks the second victory of the season for Gord Shepherd, but third overall for the Ridge Road Racing team after Chris Morrow won on June 8. The runner-up for Ron Quesnelle marks his fifth top-five of the 2019 campaign and best finish of the season to date. Dwayne Baker finished third for his fourth top-five, while Rick Spencer-Walt made his way back up to fourth following an early spin at Lap 7. Danny Benedict rounded out the top-five.
Paul Maltese finished sixth for his eighth top-10 of 2019, followed by Mike Wilkinson, Travis Hallyburton, Thayne Hallyburton, and Al Inglis. Daniel Montanari finished 11th, followed by Ernie Fumerton, Brandon Feeney, Stefan Semeraro, and Chris McIssac. Robbie Sikes rounded out the field in 16th following a spin mid-race.
