SAUBLE BEACH, Ontario — Gaining speed as the weekend went on, Wally Wilson was able to pick up a top-10 finish at Sauble Speedway.
Wilson started off Saturday night on a sour note, as he was unable to get any practice due to issues with keeping the No. 69 Midget. Thanks to some hard work and help from fellow competitors Adam Carothers, Larry Wilson and Jody Bound, he was able to fix the issues ahead of qualifying. The lack of practice showed in the heats, though, as he would be off in speed in the first outing, followed by a fifth in his second trip on-track.
As a result, he would be forced to start deep in the field for the feature. He looked to be starting to make up some of the ground as the speed was there in the main event, but his night ended early when the chain broke on Lap 7.
Returning to the beach on Sunday, the speed was there this time through qualifying with finishes of fifth and third. He’d once again have to start deep in the field for the feature, but this time was able to make the most of his experience, crossing the finish line with a 10th-place finish.
Wilson will be back behind the wheel of his No. 69 Outlaw Midget on Saturday, July 6 at Peterborough Speedway.
Wally Wilson Racing will receive sponsorship support from The Fyre Place & Patio Shop, Larry’s Small Engines, Have1.com, NGK Spark Plugs, and Wix Filters for 2019. He will also be proudly supporting the #BurnOutTheBully campaign and Laps 4 Muscular Dystrophy (L4MD) program.
