INNISFIL, Ontario — Battling hard through the pair of features on Saturday night, Ron Quesnelle scored his third top-10 finish of 2019 with a sixth-place finish in the first 35-lapper.
Quesnelle started off the night by qualifying seventh for the first feature, moving forward immediately to run sixth as of the first caution at Lap 3. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t be smooth sailing from there as contact when the field got stacked up on Lap 8 would send Quesnelle around on the frontstretch.
Restarting from the tail of the field, he would begin to make his way back forward through the field, cracking the top-10 before the next yellow flag at Lap 17. Restarting from 10th, he’d battle hard over the course of the second half of the feature to cross the finish line with a sixth-place finish.
It seemed fortunes had turned their way back in Quesnelle’s favor as he was able to draw the pole in the re-draw for the second feature. Starting from the front row, he’d battle for the lead with fellow veteran Dwayne Baker through the early laps until the first caution at Lap 6. On the restart, he would drop back a couple spots following a shuffle up front.
Unfortunately, the battle for the lead ahead of him did not go as planned, with contact sending both drivers around. With the track blocked, Quesnelle stopped to avoid contact with his fellow competitors. The race officials would deem him involved in the incident, sending him to the tail for the restart.
Restarting from the tail of the field, he’d avoid an incident ahead of him, but was unable to make up all of the lost track position en route to a 16th-place finish.
With three top-10’s on the season in four features, including a season-best fourth, Quesnelle currently sits seventh in the track standings. He is notably only nine points out of the top-five.

Quesnelle will be back at Sunset Speedway for the third night of racing, scheduled for Saturday, June 15, featuring a 50-lap feature. The full schedule can be viewed at http://www.sunsetspeedway.ca.
