INNISFIL, Ontario — Despite dealing with mechanical gremlins throughout Spring Velocity, Andrew Shiling was able to put together a full 20-lap feature on Sunday afternoon at Sunset Speedway.
The afternoon did not start off as Shiling hoped, with the team running into mechanical issues. The SKLD Motorsports squad went to work immediately on the No. 29 Bone Stock, with crew members bringing parts in from different locations to make the repairs necessary.
Shiling was able to get the car running for the first heat, finishing ninth to qualify 16th for the Spring Velocity feature. He began to move forward immediately, avoiding a spin ahead of him on Lap 9 to move up to 14th. He continued to battle hard through the back half of the feature, finishing the event in 14th.
“A huge thank you goes out to Foster Motorsports and crew, Neumeister Racing and crew, and the SKLD Crew and everyone else who helped me with my car after running in to mechanic issues,” he stated post-race. “I am so lucky to have each and everyone of you supporting me and my fellow drivers. Here’s to next week!”
The team has spent the past couple of days working on the car, and believes all of the mechanical issues are sorted out. Shiling will continue his season this weekend at Sunset Speedway on Saturday, May 25.
