Frank Davey Aiming for Solid Competitive Season at Sunset Speedway

After making a pair of trips to victory lane last season, Frank Davey is ready to get back at it this year in the St. Onge Recreation Super Stock division at Sunset Speedway.

“We are excited for the start of the season,” he told SHORT TRACK MUSINGS. “Ridge Road Racing has gone through the car and it will be top notch going into the season. Auto Trim Barrie has also done a great job of making the car look great!”

After the success last season, the driver of the No. 49 Tok Performance, Green Steel Roofing, Bullseye Axe Throwing, Mr M’s, Lila Sloss Cooperators Insurance, Hwy 400 Transmission, Paul Sadlon, and Air Kool Super Stock is hoping to place top-five in the year-end standings once again.

“Some goals would be a few more feature wins this season and top-five at the Short Track Nationals (at Jukasa Motor Speedway),” he added.

Certainly, it won’t be easy in accomplishing either of those goals with the amount of talent currently on the Super Stock roster. As Davey commented, “we have some the best cars and drivers in Ontario at this point from young guns to veterans.”

For Davey, he got his start in racing through running Enduros at Sunset Speedway and Barrie Speedway through the 1980s, before jumping into the Thunder Car Division in 1997.

“There are a lot of good memories, but the best one to date was checking one off the bucket list and racing at Jukasa,” he commented.

With numerous years of experience under his belt, Davey’s advice to the next generation of racers is simple – learn as much as you can, while not being afraid to ask the veterans questions.
