PETERBOROUGH, Ontario — After issues during qualifying on Saturday, Ryan Semple worked his way through the field for a top-10 finish at Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic.
Semple would get into the wall during the first heat on Friday night to finish fifth, followed by having an issue on the first lap of Saturday’s qualifier.
As a result, he would start 22nd for Sunday’s feature, but began to make his way forward immediately as he ran 18th with just six laps on the board. Semple continued his climb, getting alongside Rob Richards for 16th on Lap 16. However, the race’s first caution came out two laps later for an incident in turn one. Restarting 15th, he’d avoid an incident on the restart, working his way up to 13th by the halfway mark. He’d continue making passes, moving up another spot five laps later, before avoiding a multi-car accident amongst the leaders at Lap 39 to move up to sixth.
Restarting on the outside of row three, there’d be a caution on the restart due to a competitor climbing the wall back behind him. The restart would see the white and green given, due to the race reaching it’s time limit. Semple battled hard through the last lap, crossing the finish line in sixth.
