Jordan Howse Scores First Career Outlaw Midget Feature Victory

Jordan Howse had run Outlaw Midget events before, but getting behind the wheel of the Brian Woodland owned No. 48 proved to be the magic ticket. He scored his first career Outlaw Midget feature victory on Saturday night at Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic.

The first heat would see a pair of incidents, with Nick Theron looping it around on Lap 2, followed by Rick Splawnyk going around on the backstretch. Nigel Buttivant picked up the win ahead of Jordan Howse, Jody Bound, Rob McCall, Mike Bradley, Larry Lawson, Kevin Spiez, and Theron.

The second heat wouldn’t go smoothly either with Dave Bradley spinning on Lap 2, followed by Amanda Call with two laps to go, and ending with Brown and Bradley together at the end. Jessica James took the win ahead of Richard Woodland, Adam Carrothers, Robin McLean, Brown, McKibbon, McCall, Jaime Smith, and Bradley.

The third heat featured a quick caution when Splawnyk spun on the backstretch. Mike Bradley scored the win ahead of Rob McCall, Howse, Bound, Buttivant, Lawson, Spiez, and Theron.

Jessica James went for the daily double ahead of McLean, Carrothers, Amanda McCall, Woodland, Brown, McKibbon, Smith, Bradley, and Tom Tyo.

Come feature time, Ryan Brown started pole ahead of Jody Bound, Robin McLean, Adam Carrothers, Richard Woodland, Mike Bradley, Rob McCall, Nigel Buttivant, Jordan Howse, Jessica James, Amanda McCall, Larry Lawson, Wayne McKibbon, Kevin Spiez, Dave Bradley, Rick Splawnyk, Nick Theron, Tom Tyo, and Jaime Smith.

The start of the race didn’t go smoothly, as both Smith and Spiez ran into mechanical issues. The second attempt went better, with Jody Bound jumping out to the early lead ahead of McLean and Carrothers. However, the caution would come out on Lap 3 for Amanda McCall spinning in turn three.

Bound got a good restart ahead of McLean and James, with Howse alongside Carrothers for fourth. Howse got the spot, challenging James for second, and completing the pass a lap later. The climb continued as Howse moved into second on Lap 7 ahead of James and Carrothers.

Howse would then challenge Bound for the lead on Lap 8, but ran into an issue, as he spun off of turn four for the third caution. The first attempt at a restart didn’t go well, with Theron running into issues. With 17 laps to go, Bound led James, Carrothers, Woodland, Rob McCall, Buttivant, Brown, Amanda McCall, McKibbon, and Howse. The second attempt produced another yellow flag, with Splawnyk spinning in turn four.

The third time was a charm as Bound and James battled for the lead ahead of Howse, with Jessica James taking the top spot on Lap 11 ahead of James and Bound as Mike Bradley slowed up a bit. The sixth caution then came out a lap later, for Amanda McCall spinning on the backstretch.

James would get a good restart ahead of Howse, Bound, Carrothers, Buttivant, and Woodland. Unfortunately, Woodland’s strong run came to an end on Lap 15 as he pulled off the track. This allowed Amanda McCall to move up into sixth ahead of Rob McCall and Brown. Brown would bring out the seventh caution, going for a spin in turn four on Lap 17. With eight laps to go, James led Howse, Bound, Carrothers, Buttivant, Amanda McCall, Rob McCall, Mike Bradley, McKibbon, Lawson, and Dave Bradley.

On the restart, Rob McCall would spin, though wouldn’t draw the yellow flag as James continued to lead ahead of Howse, Bound, Carrothers, Buttivant, Amanda McCall, Mike Bradley, McKibbon, and Lawson. Bradley would once again run into issues, slowing once again on Lap 21.

James looked set to cruise to another Autumn Colours Classic victory, but she would run into mechanical issues with three laps to go, causing her to slow drastically before pulling off the track. This would hand the lead to Jordan Howse, who led the rest of the way to score the win ahead of Jody Bound and Adam Carrothers.
